Luigina and Mauro, both owners and Chefs of "Ristorante Luigina", emigrated to Canada in 1995 from the city of Fabriano in central Italy -- a famous medieval town renowned for being the first in the world to have a paper factory. They decided to move to Canada after a holiday trip to see log homes. They wanted to open a unique Italian restaurant and create a menu that combined authentic "street Italian" with contemporary food originating from all the different regions of Italy. Luigina is open only for supper but groups can book the restaurant for lunch to accomodate a special occasion. At Ristorante Luigina everything is made from scratch as it is ordered and with fresh ingredients; these ingredients play a key role in the taste and quality of the food. The restaurant is included in the latest edition of "Where to Eat in Canada" and has received much media attention for its unique approach to Contemporary Italian Cuisine. From fresh rosemary, basil and marjoram to pure Olive Oil (specifically imported for its quality - .01 acidity), and from fresh homemade pasta to homemade lamb prosciutto, Luigina and Mauro have combined their skills to bring to you Italian Cuisine at its best! |
